little britain
what I love about the Brits is the way they embrace eccentricities, in fact they whole-heartedly encourage it. No worries for tall poppies in this country.
Sometimes the most ordinary things they do catch my eye. I loved this trio who stopped for a thermos of tea in a layby in Devon. It was a gorgeous autumn day and they were near a beautiful fast flowing river overlooked by ancient forest and an old stone bridge with warm rocks to sit on. So they sat in the car park - but not in the car, oh no, no, no. On their folding furniture. Brilliant.
autumn
the thing about autumn is it is so seductive. The fruits ripe on the vine, the yellowy light, the clear blue skies. Until you get a patch or shade or are caught out on a breezy day with too light a jacket. Then the whirling leaves reminds me that another long winter stretches ahead.
Still the good thing about winters in London is the gusto with which the locals get into "party season" (more of that to follow). And we will soon have guy fawkes, mulled wine and feather duvets to look forward to. So hail autumn: new boots, getting cosy and a change of season.

worth a crack nigel
or so the rats said, way back some time in the land of volcanoes, long white clouds and cheezels....
I figure I have spent approx 80% of my life with a camera lens in front of one eye and, apart from the dusty silverfly eaten stack of photo albums under the stereo, none see the light of day. Which, given the content or quality, is a probably a good thing. But here is the 21st century and a means of sharing with my dearly beloved some of the better moments. I won't be putting any of my wee one up here, even though that is what you all want to see, as without her consent it seems a bit off to be posting photos of little kids in the public domain. So if you can maintain any level of interest I'll just put up some photos from my home town, London. Pretty much the best place in the world when I don't hate it's guts. And maybe some of my mates. If they sit still long enough.
So here it is, the first post and I can't even remember a joke.
